Technology > Vehicle Capabilities
Hibbard Inshore operates a fleet of remotely operated vehicles (ROV’s) for the purpose of underwater and amphibious inspection and construction projects. The fleet of vehicles is capable of performing inspections in Dry, Raw Water, Potable Water, and Sewer Environments. The ROV’s used are selected based on project requirements and fall into 3 categories:
1. |
Crawling Vehicles |
2. |
Swimming Vehicles |
3. |
Streaming Vehicles |
Crawling Vehicles
The Crawling Vehicles are amphibious and are primarily used in dry or moderate flow environments. Hibbard Inshore’s systems can be used in small or large pipes to detect condition including cracking, spalling, joint condition, roundness, and sediment. These vehicles generally operate in the following window:
- Operate to a pressure/depth of 100 feet.
- Minimum pipe diameter 6 inches
- Maximum pipe diameter in excess of 30 feet
- Continuous runs up to 7,500 linear feet
Swimming Vehicles
Hibbard Inshore’s Swimming Vehicles are tethered vehicles that are used in fully flooded applications with flows up to 5 knots. Hibbard Inshore has full swimming vehicles that are capable of being used for internal and expternal pipe and structure inspections, deep water and low visibility operations, object location, and recovery. These vehicles are also used by Hibbard Inshore in controlling diverless dredging operations, deep water coring and bulkheading projects, and underwater concrete pours. The operating window for these vehicles is as follows:
- Operate to pressure/depth of 2,000 meters
- Minimum access diameter of 22 inches
- Minimum pipe diameter of 30 inches for sonar use
- No limit to Maximum diameter
- Continuous runs up to 30,000 linear feet
Streaming Vehicles
Our Streaming Vehicles are amphibious in nature and are designed to float in partially filled pipes and tunnels and have the advantage of inspecting above and below the water line in high flow situations. These vehicles provide a stable platform for a wide variety of cameras and sensors allowing us to accurately assess pipe/tunnel condition, sediment level, and in the case of concrete pipe, the support structures including rebar, mesh and tunnel ribs.
- Continuous runs up to 8,000 feet
Vehicle Assisted Tooling (VAT)™
Hibbard Inshore is able to add a wide variety of hydraulic and electrical tooling to its vehicles to accomplish underwater tasks.
- 1 and 4 function manipulators
- Cleaners
- Cutters (Rotary, Shear, and Cable)
- Drills
- Hydraulic Impact Wrenches
- Hooks
- Coring Equipment
- Lift Bags
- Latching Mechanisms
- Bulkheads
- Blanking Plugs
- High Intensity Lighting
